Employment Law

Employment law is a rapidly evolving area. This has been especially true here in Colorado, with multiple significant changes occurring each year. Our attorneys keep up to date as the law evolves, including in areas such as wage and hours, leave entitlements, and laws governing non-competition agreements. We advise and represent employers on Colorado and Federal employment law and represent them when they face claims of wrongdoing from current or former employees.

As outside counsel, we advise clients about and help them review their internal policies, employee handbooks, offer letters, employment contracts, equal pay, hiring practices, disciplinary procedures, and internal investigations. Clients regularly come to us for assistance with classification of independent contractors and classification of employees as exempt or non-exempt for purposes of overtime and minimum wage. We also advise religious organizations in areas that employment law intersects with their ministries, including through the ministerial exemption.

We represent clients facing a wide variety of allegations, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour violation, misclassification, and wrongful discharge. Our representation extends to areas including State and Federal Court, and administrative proceedings within the Colorado Division of Labor Employment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the U.S. Department of Labor.
